Happy 22nd Birthday Sara Elizabeth Doan!

Twenty two years ago my husband drove me to the hospital after midnight, arriving around 1:00 am. I was 9 months pregnant and it was one day after my due date. Less than 45 minutes later, with no drugs for mommy, Sara, my blue eyed, blonde baby, was born! She’s been amazing me and our family ever since.

In less than two months, Sara will graduate from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and minor in Political Science. These past four years have flown by! Since she went to Ole Miss in the Fall of 2015, Sara has made some amazing friends, was initiated into Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, named Member of the Year for the Student Activities Committee, volunteered for the local Oxford YoungLife chapter, interned for KATV-Channel 7 in Little Rock, covered the 2019 Miss America pageant in Atlantic City and written dozens of blog entries for the college website the Odyssey Online. https://www.theodysseyonline.com/user/@saradoan

Sara loves going to Ole Miss and like me and her older sister, Lauren, she didn’t change her major at all! Her father was a Broadcast Journalist and she was also on the Yearbook Staff at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. She’s very proud of graduating from Central, like her sister, who now works as an Event Planner at Harvard University. Sara loves Ole Miss sports and the picture to the left was taken at an Ole Miss Football game in October 2018. But she also cheers for her Dad’s Kentucky Wildcats during March Madness. Which is about right because her dad had to watch an Elite Eight basketball game while we were still in the hospital!

We loved traveling as a family and were lucky enough to go to Hawaii in January 2012 when my husband, Thruston Stewart Doan, spoke at the National Farm Bureau convention. The picture above was taken during our trip around Honolulu! We also loved trips to the beach, especially in the Gulf Coast, Navarre Beach and Gulf Shores. We have taken trips to both Disney World and Disneyland and went on a Caribbean Christmas Cruise in 2010.

The girls and I continue to travel together and took a recent trip to Atlanta for a girl’s weekend.  Have a great Birthday Sara and Lauren and I will see you at Graduation!
