Movie Review for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1”

Leslie's Movie & TV Reviews

Today is January 1, 2012 and this is my attempt to catch up on my movie review blog! Since I posted my last blog in November, I’ve seen several new movies including: Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol; New Year’s Eve; My Week With Marilyn; and the new Twilight movie “Breaking Dawn – Part 1”.

I saw Breaking Dawn with my 14-year-old daughter and friends at the midnight movie premier on November 18, 2011. Well, technically we arrived at the theater on Thursday, November 17 for a 12:05 am showing. The theater we went to was very crowded and it was showing the movie on multiple screens at midnight. Some of my friends went to a midnight premiere at a different theater here in Little Rock and all of those showings were sold out too!

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1

Starring: Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, and Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black.
Release Date:  Friday, November 18, 2011
Running Time:  117 minutes
Rated:  PG13, Adventure, Drama, Fantasy, Romance

Rated PG-13 for disturbing images, violence, sexuality/partial nudity and some thematic elements

Brief Description: The Quileutes close in on expecting parents Edward and Bella, whose unborn child poses a threat to the Wolf Pack and the towns people of Forks.
Leslie’s Notes: After seeing all four movies in the “Twilight Saga”, I thought this movie was definitely the best one so far. Although I’ve always thought that Robert Pattinson is a very good actor, his portrayal of Edward in this movie impressed me so much during the dramatic scenes. I can just stare at Taylor Lautner all day long and Kristen Stewart didn’t annoy me as much in this film as she has in the other Twilight movies.  I just made sure I didn’t watch any of her TV interviews!

As someone who has read all four books written by Stephanie Meyer and has seen all four movies so far at midnight premieres, I liked this movie the best, with the exception of a graphic scene toward the end of the film.  I won’t give it away, but it was featured on an episode of Entertainment Tonight earlier this year.  And I should mention that my daughter Lauren actually went to Forks, Washington this past summer while she and my mother were visiting  relatives near Seattle, Washington.  She brought back a t-shirt for me that says Team Jacob!
