Leslie’s Notes
The animated Disney musical Frozen has the charm of The Little Mermaid (1989), the strong female lead of Beauty and the Beast (1991) and a musical score as amazing as the one in Aladdin (1992).
I think the success of Frozen is that it is a musical, cast with Broadway
stars, two of which have had major parts in the TV show Glee (Jonathan
Groff as Jesse St. James and Idina Menzel as Rachel’s mother, Shelby).
It’s
sad that the fact that actor John Travolta mispronounced Idina Menzel’s
name as “Adele Deezem” when he introduced her at this year’s Academy
Awards before she sang the hit song “Let It Go” from the movie
received almost more media attention than the premier of the movie! The
song then won the award “Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion
Pictures, Original Song” and Frozen was named “Best Animated Feature Film of the Year”.
I missed it in the movie theaters, finally watched the movie recently On Demand on my AT&T U-Verse and loved it!
